Blue Angels WASN'T released by Accolade circa 1989-90.
This copy of Blue Angels was most definitely in development, as seen by the last main menu selection "Return to DOS". What a horrid thought.
The game is based on the real American FA-18 acrobatic squadron, who perform many death defying aeronautical stunts in formation. You can practice maneuvers on a flight simulator, fly with the squadron at air shows or enjoy a free flight.
I haven't been able to test the game as much as I'd like. It doesn't work properly with Bernie, not accepting any key input. The game eventually displays a demo, but the performance in terms of frame rate is really quite pathetic. I'm guessing this is the reason the game was canned, as it was rather a hefty weight for a stock 2.6mhz Apple IIGS to handle.
I have tested Blue Angels with System 6
and it didn't like it. Although the game loads, bitmap graphics no longer appear
on the main menu.
Around the same time as Blue Angels, Heat Wave was supposed to be released
for the IIGS. If anyone was information on that Accolade racing title as to
its IIGS status, I'd be grateful.
