If you need to back up 3.5" disks, you don't need to look much further than Photonix II. Even if you've only got one 3.5" disk drive, it will read the entire contents of the disk, store it in memory, ask you to insert the blank disk you wish to copy to and duplicate the original disk to the copy in one pass.

Photonix can't, however, make successful duplicates of copy- protected programs.

The program comes with lots of nice features, such as 'Re-organise', which basically optimises the copy of a disk in memory and then copies that to your target copy. There's also a 'Disk Shaker' alert when Photonix has trouble reading or writing to a disk, it will eject it automatically and prompt you to shake the disk. In my experience, this technique has worked to copy the occasional troublesome block, but it doesn't always. With the Virus option on, Photonix can also detect and destroy boot block viruses, viruses that live inside the boot block of a disk and copy themselves into memory when that disk is loaded. The boot block viruses are Black Out, Lode Runner and Star Fighter.

The program can be used in either French or English languages, booted from its own 3.5" disk or run from GS/OS.
