Shuffle Puck Cafe, being a hit on the Mac, made its way to the IIGS in 1990.

However the IIGS version was not officially released, the story going that it was leaked in beta form and in disgust Broderbund cancelled the game.

But it's here nonetheless and won't Mac Users be grateful they can play this old classic again...in colour! The game itself is very, very similar to air hockey. All you do is play other opponents found in the Shuffle Puck Cafe, whom have varying degrees of skill. The android can be set to play at any difficulty level. The game would have been made better if you could play against another human opponent, but you'll just have to make do with the computer players. Play is controlled via the mouse.

The graphics are relatively well drawn, but look dry and washed out. Broderbund's IIGS graphics ported from the Mac improved with Jam Session, which is not a game, but a fun music program where you add musical notes that the software incorporates to the accompanying music in time. The sound for Shuffle Puck is pretty bad...scratchy, clicking sound effects that were probably taken straight out of the Mac original.

The boys of Brutal Deluxe have now made Shuffle Puck Cafe playable for ROM03 machines, so rejoice and simply download the new .zip archive to enjoy!
