This page pays homage to my personal favourite computer, the Apple IIGS, and emulating its cool games. The Apple IIGS was similar, in some respects, to the Amiga and the Atari ST. This particular 16-bit machine may have been the less popular of the three, but is just as fondly remembered by its users, if not more so.

If you're looking for an Apple IIgs emulator: MacOS users: Download Bernie ][ the Rescue, the most fully featured IIGS emulator. XGS is also available for the PowerMac and 68k based Macs, but isn't as compatible or robust as Bernie. MacOS X users: KEGS has been ported to MacOS X and is available from CasaGS. Windows Users: KEGS is the best IIgs emulator available, although it is still in development. XGS is also available for Windows and DOS. BeOS Users: Sweet 16 (based on the core of Bernie) is available for PPC and Intel BeOS. OS/2 Users: XGS is available. You will require the IIGS ROM separately, and I recommend you use this ROM01 image to ensure maximum compatibility (you may need to change the name of the ROM to suit your emulator, which should be described in the docs for each respective emulator). A ROM03 image is also available. The archive consists of 2image disk images, which are the defacto standard for Apple IIGS cross-platform disk images and also original Apple II ShrinkIt! archives. Docs included with the 2images are in .PDF format, so you will require Acrobat Reader to view them. Some of the titles you may be looking for will not be here. And that's where other Apple IIGS gamers can help me out with; fire up your email client and attach the games to an email sent to me. If you're emulating a IIGS with Bernie, you're in luck. Before you start downloading take a look at the compatibility list of IIGS games with Bernie, to avoid a disappointment or two later. I will not be including links to any games released in more recent years. Read the disclaimer to find out why. Although containing commercial software is naughty, I think it's a nice thought that users of other platforms experience IIGS gaming than worry about legal technicalities which due to circumstances of time, really enforce nothing and protect nobody. You'd better read my disclaimer for more information on this. Why I think the Apple IIGS and emulation of older computers is more fun than computing today. Don't forget to check out the Apple IIGS gaming memorabilia!
